Hand crafted in Saline, MI

The mission of Saline Cycles is simple: to build high-quality, custom, and locally made bicycles at a lower cost—bikes that stand the test of time and are meant to be ridden every day.

Saline Cycles is dedicated to crafting timeless, practical, and sustainable bicycles inspired by classic Dutch and path racer styles. I specialize in 4130 chromoly bike frames paired with 40-635 (28" x 1-1/2") wheels and tires, creating bicycles designed for everyday use. Drawing from my background in automotive engineering—including my experience with the Toyota Way—I continuously refine my process to maximize value and eliminate waste.

My journey into bicycle craftsmanship is rooted in both my professional and personal experiences. I currently work in engineering for a lithium-ion battery startup in the greater Detroit area, focusing on commercial truck applications and grid solutions. Previously, my role at Toyota Motor North America brought me to my current home in Saline, Michigan—a name that inspired Saline Cycles. Also, Saline is pronounced like the singer, not the solution.

Beyond engineering, my passion for turning raw materials into something that other people will value and use, has grown through years of hands-on experience restoring old cars and antique bicycles. I love exploring how materials behave and how I can manipulate them to build exceptional bicycles.

Sustainability is also a core value of Saline Cycles, with frames and components crafted from durable materials like steel, wood, and leather.

When I am not building bicycles, I enjoy cycling through the dirt roads of Saline and Ann Arbor, embracing the open farmland with no specific destination. I also cherish riding up north in Michigan around Petoskey with my girlfriend, Alia.

Saline Cycles strives to make bikes that will stand the test of time. This is achieved by confirming craftmanship with rigorous testing. Major design changes are tested through an internal testing process that follows ISO 4210-6 test procedures. The testing equipment is designed and fabricated in house.
